Connect Muliao to Teams

Choose how you want to use Muliao
For meeting captions, choose computer audio or your microphone as the source and grant the required system permissions. To send your translated speech to remote participants, configure the virtual audio path below.
A virtual audio device passes sound between applications. It does not change your network and is not a VPN. Muliao must actively produce translated speech; installing a driver alone does not translate anything.
Keep the Teams speaker output on headphones to avoid echo and repeated translation.
Mac: BlackHole 2ch
- Get the 2ch version from the official BlackHole website. Follow the installation instructions and restart if requested.
- Open Muliao’s Teams / translated speech mode and select your physical microphone as the input.
- Choose the source and target languages. Set Muliao’s translated audio output to BlackHole 2ch.
- In Teams device settings, select BlackHole 2ch as the microphone and your headphones as the speaker.
- Start translation in Muliao and make a test call. Ask the remote participant to confirm they hear the translation.
Do not select BlackHole as Muliao’s input or as the Teams speaker output. Doing so can feed meeting audio back into the translation path.
Windows: VB-CABLE
- Download VB-CABLE from the official VB-Audio website. Fully extract it, run the installer for your system as administrator and restart after installation.
- In Muliao, select your physical microphone as the input and choose the source and target languages.
- Set Muliao’s translated audio output to CABLE Input.
- In Teams, select CABLE Output as the microphone and your headphones as the speaker.
- Start translation and make a test call. Check that Teams’ microphone level responds to the translated speech.
CABLE Input receives audio played by Muliao. CABLE Output supplies that audio to Teams. The two different names are intentional.

Before your meeting: troubleshooting
- Captions work but there is no translated audio: enable translated speech, check the output device and choose a target language different from the source.
- No microphone activity in Teams: confirm Muliao is producing translated audio, then check the virtual audio path and Teams input.
- Echo or looping audio: stop translation. Check that neither Muliao’s input nor the Teams speaker is set to the virtual audio device.
- The driver is missing from the device list: finish installation and restart the system or affected apps before checking again.
- Installation is blocked on a work computer: ask IT to approve the driver or required permissions. Do not bypass device management policies.
This is a one-way translated speech configuration, not automatic two-way interpretation or an official Microsoft Teams plugin. Other meeting apps may use the same audio path but need separate testing. Before an important meeting, ask a remote participant to check what they hear and the actual delay.
